Design by Eszter Imre (b. 1985, Hungary) – Zürich, Switzerland
Exhibited at Studio Küsnacht, Zurich – October 2024
This striking amphora, part of the Mar&Roca collection, beautifully fuses ancient Mediterranean heritage with contemporary design. Inspired by the ancient Minoan civilization of Crete and named after King Minos, it reflects the refined craftsmanship of Cretan pottery, once used for storing olive oil and wine across the Mediterranean, from Phoenicia to Rome.
Handcrafted by Hungarian artist Eszter Imre, this piece offers a modern reinterpretation of the iconic amphora form. Eszter’s artistic approach merges traditional Minoan influences with a fresh, vibrant design, transforming the amphora into a stunning work of art that celebrates both its historical significance and contemporary appeal.
Please note: The actual color of the amphora is a rich, dark brown, which may differ slightly from the image.
